Year 3

Caterpillar Class - Mr. Addison.

Welcome back to another school year. Entering a new Key Stage is a big step for the children, but one I know that they are really excited about. We already have lots of interesting and engaging learning opportunities planned, so I'm sure that we will make a flying start together!

The Great Outdoors!

Last term, we were lucky enough to work with an excellent sports coach from Colchester United. This term, we will also be working with another sports coach (Mr.  Marshall - an excellent coach with a lot of experience teaching a wide range of sports). To make sure the children get the best out of the sessions, please make sure they have their PE kits in school during the week. We will also be outdoors for many of the session and, as it it winter, please make sure they have appropriate kit for cold weather.

Children in Need 2017

Paratroop Regiment Band.

On Thursday the 12th of October, Years 3 and 4 went to see a live performance by the Paratroop Regiment band. Seeing a live band perform a selection of popular music was a real treat. As you can see from the video, the children really got into the swing of things!

Tudor Day at Kentwell Hall.

On Monday the 25th of September, Year 3 were transported back in time to the 15th Century. They enjoyed a fantastic, immersive day as Tudors at Kentwell Hall. The volunteers at the hall were, as always, fantastic with the children. They are so passionate about their subject that anyone visiting can't help but get absorbed into the lives depicted. I know that the children learned a great deal and had a fantastic time to boot

Making Maths Make Sense.

This week in maths, we have started work on our adding and subtracting skills. Being able to visualise numbers and see how they change when we add or subtract from them is really important. In Year 3, we are focusing not simply on 'how do you do it', but instead on 'how does it work?'.
