At East Bergholt CEVC Primary School, we encourage children to develop as individuals. One of the ways we try to encourage this is through the ‘Play Leader Scheme’. Year 6 pupils are chosen to organise games for the younger children. This role helps to promote the children’s organisation, communication and responsibility skills and most importantly they all have fun!
Play Leaders meet on a regular basis to discuss new games and play equipment. Our play leaders volunteer their time to support the younger pupils at play times to establish a happy play time for all children. They have received training on how to deliver different games, as well as delivering traditional playground games. The children have lots of play equipment to enjoy, ranging from swing ball, giant jenga and connect 4, pogo sticks, hula hoops, skipping ropes and there is more equipment on the way!
Play Leaders promote physical activity undertaken during lunchtimes and reduce the number of play related disputes on the playground. We are very proud of our Play Leaders.
