  • Covid Update

Mon 28 Jun 2021 Mrs Mitchell

We have been made aware that there are positive Covid cases locally.

As we go into these last few weeks at school we need to remain vigilant to ensure the safety of all members of the community.

Please see this link for Covid symptoms in children and do not send your children into school with ANY of the symptoms. If your child has symptoms then you should arrange for a PCR test and all siblings should not attend school until a negative result is received. If your child tests positive you must ring the school immediately so we can contact trace.

We also ask that if your child has a high temperature they are not given medicine to mask this symptom and then sent to school.

Thank-you for everyone's support, we have not had many cases within our school community so far which is really good.

  • DFE News update

Tue 15 Jun 2021 Mrs Mitchell

Please see the following from the DFE:

    Prime Minister Announcement

The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, announced today that he was not able to say that we have met all four tests for proceeding with Step 4 and thinks it is sensible to wait just a little longer. This will give time for the vaccination programme to protect people from the virus in light of the new variant. He felt confident we will not need to wait beyond 19 July. The government will monitor the position every day and if, after two weeks, the risk has diminished then Step 4 might proceed sooner.

Please keep your current protective measures in place until there is a further announcement on Step 4 of the roadmap. These measures in education settings will remain in place to help reduce transmission of the virus.

  • Summer reminders

Mon 07 Jun 2021 Mrs Mitchell
    • Hats - all children need a hat for playtimes and lessons outside, please send in a named hat.
    • Water bottles - all children need a water bottle in school which needs to be taken home and washed every day and brought back again. This is really important as we have no water fountains in school now due to hygiene/Covid issues and no water on the tables at lunchtimes, children take their bottles in with them.
    • Summer uniform - if girls are wearing dresses and want to wear cycle shorts underneath that's fine but the shorts should not be longer than the dress length. Girls wearing skirts and no tights should make sure the skirts are knee length.
    • Summer shoes - these should have covered toes ie no sandals.
    • PE kit - This is the same as before - come in PE kit on your PE day (see class reminders on Dojo/Tapestry), shorts and t-shirt if hot! If the older children want to bring a spare top to change if they get sweaty then they can do.
    • Sun cream - Please apply cream before school so children only need to reapply at lunchtime, you can send in a small suncream bottle labelled with class/name. Children must be able to apply it themselves. The creams which last a whole day can be used if you prefer.
    • Times of school - please refer to Friday News before the holiday for time changes. ALL children must be in class for the register by 8.55am.
