The initial remote curriculum: What pupils can expect at home
When transitioning to remote education, the first day or two may differ from our usual approach as we make necessary preparations for an extended period of remote teaching.
At East Bergholt CEVC Primary School, we provide high-quality remote education that mirrors the education pupils would normally receive at school. This includes a range of subjects and activities designed to keep pupils on track with their learning and development.
Yes, pupils will be taught the same curriculum remotely as they would if they were in school. While there may be some adaptations for remote learning, the core content and objectives remain consistent to ensure continuity in their education.
We aim to provide remote education that is equivalent in length to the core teaching time pupils would receive in school. This typically includes a combination of direct teaching time, as well as time for pupils to complete tasks, reading, and assignments independently. The amount of time will vary by age group and individual needs.
Pupils will access remote education through Microsoft Teams, a platform we have successfully used in the past for remote learning. Detailed instructions and support for using this platform will be provided to ensure all pupils can effectively engage with their online lessons.
Remote education will include a variety of teaching methods to engage pupils, including recorded and live direct teaching sessions. Additionally, we may incorporate resources from the Oak National Academy. Lessons will be designed to be high-quality, meaningful, and ambitious, covering a broad range of subjects.
We will monitor pupils' engagement with their remote education regularly. Teachers will check attendance in live sessions, review submitted work, and track participation in assignments. If there are concerns about a pupil's engagement, we will promptly inform parents and work together to address any issues.
Teachers will assess pupils' work through regular feedback on assignments and participation in live sessions. This will include both formative assessments to guide ongoing instruction and summative assessments to evaluate overall progress. Feedback will be constructive and aimed at supporting pupils' learning and development.
We understand that some pupils may require additional support to access remote education. We will work closely with parents to provide the necessary resources and guidance.
